What is zapotec god?

The Zapotec god is a deity worshipped by the Zapotec people, an indigenous group from the Oaxaca region of Mexico. The Zapotec pantheon includes dozens of gods and goddesses, each with their own unique attributes and powers.

One of the most important Zapotec gods is Cocijo, the god of lightning and rain. According to legend, Cocijo was responsible for bringing rain to the crops and ensuring a bountiful harvest. He was also associated with fertility, as he was believed to be responsible for the birth of children.

Other notable Zapotec gods include Xipe Totec, the god of agriculture and fertility; Pitao Cozobi, the god of maize and harvests; and Coatlán, the goddess of the moon.

Zapotec myths and legends often depict the gods as being involved in human affairs, sometimes even taking on human form to interact with mortals. Many Zapotec festivals and rituals are dedicated to these deities and involve offerings and prayers to ensure their continued blessings and protection.
